A part of arck is to be re-established long-term as a not-for-profit educational organistaion and re-launched in the year 2012. The aim is to create an engaging and inspiring place to share knowledge, ideas, passion and music, and to develop an infrastructure in support of those interested in participating.
We are are currently developing a new approach to training & education, with a curriculum focused on the exploration of ideas in Sound & Music using readily available & affordable computer based software technologies.
The structure & environment will mirror what has been used here @ arck prior. The seed has been planted.
In general and very raw terms it is shaped something like this:
- Small, intimate classes of no greater than 8 students.
- A high student to technology ratio of 1:1
- An absolute focus on exploring & creating future music today using software tools within the native hosting & processing environments that Windows, Linux & Mac OS provide.
- Keeping courses short & engaging, a real practical focus with the teacher being in easy reach of everyone.
- Encouraging collaboration, understanding and get to know both your music focused community network locally and globally. Not forgetting to engage & involve the general wider community.
- Make training affordable via profit share & a skills share or exchange system, local council, state & federal government support if available.
- A deep focus on engaging the wider community, helping the community understand why a respect for and engaging in creativity translates to a healthier society. Maybe we can even engage and offer solutions to the current hot debates of software and music file sharing & piracy ?
